ABOUT
Kammaland was established as an aftercare in 1986. Many former children of Lorraine Primary will talk fondly about May Bakker who ran the aftercare across the street from the school for many years. In 1997 Petro van den Heever took over the helm from the Bakker’s and seven years later, Gaby Petersen took ownership of the aftercare. Gaby ran a successful pre-primary school, Bambi Speelskool, from the Dutch Reformed Church hall in Lorraine for approximately 15 years when she decided to move the pre-primary to amalgamate with the aftercare at Kammaland.
In 2017 Michelle Boshoff, Gaby’s daughter, took over the reins from Gaby. The school’s name changed to Kammaland Lorraine and we expanded by offering a day-care service for children aged 0 – 3. Michelle is a qualified teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Foundation Phase.
