Kammaland was established as an aftercare in 1986. Many former children of Lorraine Primary will talk fondly about May Bakker who ran the aftercare across the street from the school for many years. In 1997 Petro van den Heever took over the helm from the Bakker’s and seven years later, Gaby Bezuidenhout took ownership of the aftercare. Gaby ran a successful pre-primary school, Bambi Speelskool, from the Dutch Reformed Church hall in Lorraine for approximately 15 years when she decided to move the pre-primary to amalgamate with the aftercare at Kammaland.
In 2017 Gaby’s daughter, Michelle Boshoff, joined the management team at the school and the name changed to Kammaland Lorraine. Michelle comes with an extensive background in business management and marketing. She is currently finalising her teaching qualification in PGCE: Foundation Phase.
Michelle is the principal of the school and Annelize van Zyl is the vice principal.
Annie is a qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Development: Foundation Phase).
